Its that time of the year, time to register for Autodesk University - the largest gathering of Autodesk software users on the planet!
This years event will be taking place from 27 November to 29 November at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Convention Centre in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada. If you've never been to Autodesk University before, its definitely worthwhile attending, its amazing how much you can get out of 3 days in Vegas with around 9,000 other users of Autodesk software.
Many people think, its just a jolly to Vegas but in reality, its 3 days of pretty hardcore learning about how you can get the most from the investment you\your company has made in Autodesk software such as Inventor, Revit, Vault, 3ds Max, PLM 360 etc. Its amazing how many people come away learning how they can use the tools to do their job better, quicker and more accurately.
Its not just at the classes or workshops that you will learn some of the best tips & tricks, but you get to find out some great info during coffee break, lunch or dinner when you get talking to other attendees and you find out how others are overcoming certain challenges or using their Autodesk software to do their job. There are lots of 'eureka' moments where you think to yourself "I didn't know that" or "I didn't think of doing it that way" - and then you can't wait to get back to the office to try out what you have learnt.
One thing that is always a challenge is convincing your manager that going to Vegas for a few days isn't about sunshine and casinos and that its an investment in helping to improve the way the business works today. If you can come back from Autodesk University and implement some of the workflows, tips and tricks that you learn with you and your colleagues, how much time could that save? How much quicker could you get your products to market or how much would you save on not having to outsource simulation?
