As mentioned in the previous post, things don’t stay still for long.
Late last week Autodesk released Vault Workgroup and Vault Professional 2015 R2.
As you can see from the article title, this new release only applies to the paid versions of Vault 2015.
So what does this new release offer…. well quite a bit.
For starters within this update, users can expect to see a different and more productive Copy Design tool. One common request we’ve had is the ability to copy a design and assign new numbering schemes in one hit. This is now possible and much more.
The R2 update also gives greater functionality to users of Vault Office. In the past the Vault Office functionality gave access to a few functions such as, the ribbon bar in Microsoft Office for non-CAD users, a web interface for Vault Workgroup and the ability to check out / in single files from the web interface.
The Vault Office functionality now offers a ‘thick’ client. This client is effectively a reduced functionally version of the full fat Vault Explorer. Organisations now have a much more cost effective way for non-CAD users to interact with vaulted data. Users with the correct security privileges can now interact with file lifecycles, read CAD data, read/write non-CAD data and a whole host more.
In addition to the above, companies working in an Item environment now the ability to create and utilise flexible lifecycles similar to those within the file management interface plus many more improvements to make the Item workflow easier to manage and manipulate.
With the addition of the new Item workflows some existing functionality has had to be disabled until the next full release so if this R2 update is of interest and you're an existing user, speak to your supplier for more information.
